Unfortunately, Guerrilla has to make the choice now to either commit to Strike as a feature or abandon it for other features. Strike has players collecting game pieces that each have their own roles on predetermined boards while surprisingly complicated, it is still a fun distraction from the rest of Horizon Forbidden World’s open-world activities. Horizon Forbidden West introduced a mini-game with collection features called Machine Strike, and if fans are familiar with The Witcher’s Gwent or Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Orlog they will know what they are getting themselves into. Horizon Forbidden West thankfully learned from this experience and offered mechanics and features like Machine Strike that were far more engaging, but there is still a lot that the Horizon franchise could improve. In gameplay, though, Horizon Zero Dawn was sometimes a little one-note, using a limited set of weapon types and borrowing a lot of open-world trappings from games that released before it. Though a multiplayer mode would be terrific, Critical Strike remains a must-have experience for all lovers of FPS games.Horizon Zero Dawn was enjoyed largely for its unique science-fiction setting and the narrative punch it packed as players learned what had caused the earth to become the way it is in the present day. Although the game modes aren't particularly varied, the maps definitely are, with an impeccable design that'll remind you of the golden age of LAN games. The only game mode that Critical Strike has is the ubiquitous Team Deathmatch, where you face off against a rival team until the respawns of one side finally stop. To do it you've got a wide array of weapons that you can expand and upgrade by investing the money you earn with your victories – not to mention a series of perks that let you improve your character's physical skills as well. In Critical Strike you play a member of an antiterrorist squad that has to take down all the terrorists in the area. Critical Strike is an FPS strongly inspired by the classic Counter Strike and with which it shares both its visual style and gameplays, though perhaps one might wish for a greater variety of game modes.
